2 Months to Go. You Need To Do This. Now.

With only two months to go until the start of iGCSE, IB and A-Level Maths, it is important to make sure you use this time as effectively as possible to help you get the most out of your exams. Here are my three key tips to get you those A and A* grades:

  1. Set realistic goals and stay motivated – Having an achievable goal will make it more likely that you will achieve it. If you focus on only the best marks you can get, you may be discouraged and leave yourself little room for error. Set yourself small targets that you can reach. Focus on improving your test performance on each practice test. Find ways to stay motivated, such as celebrating small victories, writing down your successes and encouraging yourself to keep going!

  2. Study effectively - Set a study plan for each of your subjects. Try and split your time into 10-15 minute study sessions, leaving time for breaks between each. Study a topic for 3-5 days before doing another one. Don't do too much at once. Some subjects will only take a couple of hours of study, whereas other subjects may require up to a week to study! Try to break the topics down into smaller chunks that you can tackle more effectively. It may help to take notes in advance. Taking notes will help you to keep track of your progress and to review key concepts later.

  3. Practice with mock tests – Do your best to get good grades from the start. You will be better prepared to pass your exams if you work on a few topics each week, rather than doing them all at once. Practice for the test from scratch and don't take information from other sources – practice using your own knowledge and skills to solve questions. Practice using your own knowledge and skills will give you the best chance of success!
